Kota Kinabalu — Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (SEC) hosted its second Majlis Rumah Terbuka Aidilfitri at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), marking not only a festive celebration but also a milestone in the corporation’s journey.

Graced by the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, the event was further honoured by the presence of several prominent leaders, including the Deputy Chief Minister III cum Minister of Works, YB Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya; the Minister of Finance, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun; and YB Senator Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Anifah Aman.

In a highlight of the evening, SEC presented its 2024 dividend payment of RM18 million to the State Government of Sabah — the highest dividend payout in the company’s history since its inception in 1981. This significant contribution underlines SEC’s strong financial performance and commitment to supporting the state’s development.

In line with its commitment to social responsibility, SEC also contributed RM500,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah, to empower the foundation’s efforts in aiding the less fortunate. In addition, a business zakat payment amounting to RM198,536.00 was handed over to Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS) as part of SEC’s business zakat obligations.

The event saw an attendance of approximately 600 guests, comprising government officials, industry partners, stakeholders, SEC staff, and their families. It also served as a platform to strengthen bonds, foster goodwill, and reaffirm SEC’s commitment to building enduring relationships with its stakeholders, all in the warm and inclusive spirit of Aidilfitri.

As SEC continues to grow as a key player in Sabah’s energy sector, this momentous event stands as a reflection of its steadfast mission: delivering value, empowering communities, and lighting the way forward — together.
