Books and Magazine Donation to Local Institutions

Books and Magazine Donation to Local Institutions

As part of SEC’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, we have shared several boxes of books, magazines, and law journals from our mini library with two local institutions: the Monfort Youth Training Centre and the Sabah Law Society.

With SEC embarking on an exciting transition to a new office, we are also renewing our library to accommodate fresh collections. While some books won’t be making the move with us, their value and purpose will live on in the hands of these organisations. This initiative is designed to promote learning and intellectual growth within the local community, supporting both education and legal awareness. It also opens the door to building new relationships with these organisations as we work together towards shared goals.

By repurposing valuable educational resources, we are not only reducing waste but also extending the life of these knowledge assets, helping to minimise our environmental footprint. This aligns closely with our sustainability efforts, the broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We hope that through these efforts, we can enhance access to education and legal resources, while at the same time, empowering communities for a brighter and more informed future.

Datuk Adzmir Abd Rahman, the Chief Executive Officer of SEC, participated as a panelist at the 8th World Engineering, Science, and Technology Congress (ESTCON 2024), hosted by Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Petronas. Themed “Aspiration to Action: Global Imperatives Towards Sustainability,” Datuk Adzmir addressed sustainability from both industry and governance perspectives.

He highlighted the crucial role of governance in driving state sustainability initiatives, emphasizing the need for long-term strategies that align both state and national goals. Datuk Adzmir advocated for ethical decision-making that prioritizes environmental and social benefits over short-term economic interests.

He further stressed on the importance of political commitment, continuous investment, public-private partnership, and collaboration among stakeholders in achieving sustainable outcomes.

Emphasizing SEC’s dedication to a sustainable future, he outlined three key priorities in the energy transition: utilizing natural gas as a transitional fuel, supporting a balanced energy mix, and advancing renewable energy by reinvesting revenues from natural gas.

Joining him on the panel were three other distinguished speakers: Mr. Anders Maltesen from Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Ms. Charlotte Wolf-Bye, Chief Sustainability Officer at Petronas, and Dr. Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of Lanzatech.
